. There was no RS1600i with a distributer from the factory. Am 100% certain on this. Ford released a separate workshop manual for the RS1600i as it was significantly different from all other CVH engines. The spark is provided by the twin coils mounted on the right ( as you look at the engine bay ) this is controlled by the ECU and this gets it's signal from the special flywheel which has a magnetic tooth and is read by the sensor mounted by it. The system was desinged and manufactured by Atlas FarzeugTechnik GmbH. If you have been told otherwise you are misinformed.
