put it into perspective. My xbox cost me £200 with 4 games. My 250Gb HDD in my pc cost me £60 on its own...
Not disagreeing with you that proper PC gear like say a Segate HDD would be better than the Fujitsu 120GB or BenQ 20GB which are in the Xbox machines and no doubt on a lesser budget. However, the Xbox certainly wasn't £200 with 4 games when it come out like you put it and your £60 hard disk would not still be £60 after several years either!!
You need to make a fair comparison of the times, a 20 gig or 120GB PC hard disk these days would be about the cost of a mars bar.
I mean you can get a reasonable Dell PC without monitor off Ebay brand new for £200.
Instaling the main games to your hard disk on Xbox is definitely worth while IMO. Also the second biggest problem after Red ring is apparently DVD drive failure.
