can't you do this without hitting the limiter though i thought it was all to do with the gearbox trying to spin the engine up quickly but locking up slightly due to the drag involved , i no you have to be hovering around the redline but just not over it, thats how it was with all my bikes i'v only had fwd cars so can't comment there but it must be same principle.
