Default hey tech head's :)

Hey guy's, i just bought a 1.3 escort ohv efi endura e, mk 6 '98, it was a bit rough at idle when it got hot , so i have whipped off the rocker cover and adjusted the tappets as per instruction on rocker cover, i.e

0.5-0.2 - 0.5 0.2 - 0.2- 0.5- 0.2- 0.5 mm, it run's alot smoother but is somewhat noisier, suggesting ware in rocker's or rod's, im wondering what is the maximum i could adjust them to compensate for ware?

would 0.4 and 0.15 work?? also some one told me the tappet's can be adjusted slightly to increase perfomance? is this true?

i would like to hear some profesional advice or tip's, what can be done in the way of tuning/increasing acceloration?

thanx in advance
