Got the car in the workshop up on the rollover spit, had the shell on its side and been going throught the pain staeking task of cleaning the underseal off of it, also been cleaning all the seams underneith and been seamwelding the shell as per group2 manual shows and more, as we have been welding and inch and leaving an inch then been dressing the welds back etch priming then red oxiding the bare metal, only doing this to protect and then will leave it to the bodyshop to fully seam seal the car before paint can commence!
Also cut the passenger side inner wing for the fiesta centre 5 speed fitting kit, did buy a new kit but sold it once i recieved the kustom karl set up but too drawings of the metal plate used to strengthen the inner wing to a local fabricators and they made me one, once welded in cleaned up and dummy fitted a spare empty ib5 casing on the xr2 cradle and new vibratechnic mounts, i plan to in the next week get the linkage all fitted in for the 5 speed box(will use a old one so not to damage the new b&m)
Wilst the gearbox was in place decided to put the block up in the bay so can do the engine mount, as im using the st170 engine the cvh mount looks like it wont line up with any holes so will be making a fully custom set up of my own and will be selling the fiesta centre one! wilst i was there i fitted the sump and cyl head which gave me a bit of a buzz and some more much needed enthusiasm!
Also got a massive parcel turn up the other day but didnt weigh much! OH that must be my new carbon bonnet and full interior panel set! very pleased with the outcome will be ordering a full rivnut set so can dummy bolt the inner panel set before it goes to paint then remove! and a set of bonnet pins for the bonnet, trying to help drum up peeps to go in the group buy for the boot lids as i want one and a carbon rear spoiler which would look the tits!
After much consideration in regards to the mk2 escort pedal box conversion as seen on zetecinside.com and after some comments that arose i sold my brand new pedal box on turbosport to a guy who was going to fit it in the car it was designed for and went back to the drawing board, thought fook it want to push the boundaries some more so bought a floor mount hydraulic clutch set up to go with the track car theme some more and do away with the bulkhead mount set up all together! may have to mount the seat slightly further back and poss extend the steering coloumb but will seeonce arrived and fitted! the kit comes complete with two brake master cyl and clutch cyl, 3 resovoirs, 3 braided lines for resovoirs, dash mounted bias adjuster and all the fittings!
As for rear beam i got a few things in the pipe line but havnt fully made my mind up yet!
Just taken delivery of my new fuel system, its a well thought out set up and has been proved to be more than man for the job in hand for road and track use! some of you may recognise it
