i've been thinking v6 mondeo engine in a capri for a while, its a better option than the 24v cossie, i've been fitting 24v cossies in all sorts of fords for 15 years now and think its a fantastic engine, but things have moved on, the engine i would look at now is the mondeo engine, but get the 3.0 v6 manual version they fit in the jaguar S-type, same engine as an st220 mondeo, but already rear drive with manual box, but also is rated at 240bhp which is higher than the 220bhp of the mondeo, if you fit a cheap after market ecu i would guess you would see over 250bhp, the duratec revs higher than the cossie, and is a much more compact engine, look on ebay for the jag engine, they are not to expensive, you should be able to find an engine and manual box package,

if you prefer the easier 24v cosworth option, the manual gearbox option is cheap to do these days, a bellhousing to fit a T5 to it can be got from america for about £40 + shipping, as the new mustang 4.0 v6 is a 4.0 version of the cosworth v6 but with only 1 cam per head (same as ford explorer 4x4 ) and takes the T5 from the factory in manual version, most were auto as its america but the manual using the T5 are common, just get the bellhousing from america and get a T5 from the uk, hope this helps you and some other people out.
