Personally I prefer Mondeos ... however Escorts do have some advantages; they are quicker and your are more likely to get one with a Bosch fuel pump which is more suitable for vegetable oil.
Despite what has been said above, TD Mondeos are NOT ECU controlled, they use mechanical injection. All the timing and fueling adjustments are done on the pump.
Also, again, despite what has been said above, the Lucas-CAV fuel pumps found on 99% (if not all) TD Mondeos are NOT suitable for straight vegetable oil - their weakness when it comes to high viscosity fluids such as vegetable oil is well documented.
Any that survive SVO or any other high viscosity fuel is down to good luck.
