The ticking is down to tired tappets losing pressure.
Don't put a thicker oil in it, but do try and give it a good thrash once a week, and with the short trips always, change the oil more often, it's not getting hot enough(the oil) to burn off the oxidants(pollution) in it either.

Hmm the lifters almost new, but im gonna try with the 5w40 oil, and oil clean. I do use the car for cruising as well some days/night and im flooring it there,
