I went away and did loads of poking about and there is no way I would bother with an LCD set. Half of what I watch isn't HD and the LCD's just seem to almost hang with some of the images leaving a somewhat glitchy picture.

I opted for a Panasonic 42" plasma and I don't regret it one jot. It's not a top drawer model by any stretch but when I looked at it alongside other sets it gave by far a superior picture. It even got the 5 star What Hi-Fi award.

Best bit was it was under £600 through Amazon
