before doing it, think about when you will ride. if you will ride in the winter, you need a load more gear than if you ride in summer only. i would advise that you buy your own gear before doing your test/lessons, as it will fit properly and be more comfortable, making you more relaxed and able to concentrate just on riding.

if you're not going to ride in winter, i wouldn't have lessons in winter. it's damned cold without the proper gear (the school may lend you gear, but it is unlikely to be really warm and comfortable), and a cold rider is a tense rider.

choosing a school is important, and you have had a couple of suggestions already and recomendations are the best way imo.
