As said, the problem was with the 2wd pistons the central gudgeon pin allowed the piston to rock in the bore, exaggerated as the engine wore. The 4x4 piston has an offset gudgeon pin to counter this , so when you get the block rebored and new pistons, it will be cured. However, I would still replace the little end bearings as well just to be on the safe side.
