Personally, i think an agreement works both ways and if it says something is required (like protective gear) and you sign up to it, then you either get on with it or you piss off, closing the dorr quietly on your way out.

Cops, soldiers etc don't sign up to particular duties or tasks - they do what they are told to do and they get trained for specialist roles like riot control. They don't get to say "I don't fancy going to iraq, or dealing with those football hooligans". As said, why employ him or train him if he won't actually do the job (like Princes Willie and Harry, for instance)?
