Hi all recently my car has been killing alternators and i think i've found the problem, but before i put another new one on id just like to check.

The thin blue wire from the alternator should run to the dash board with no other wire connected to it?

Previous owner on mine connected the red/black starter wire with it Because they made there own wire from the starter straight to the blue/black wire on the ignition switch.
I tried to re use the correct red/black wire for the starter but it didn't work so is it ok to run the ign switch live straight to the starter motor?
