Hi and thanks Tabetha
This may sound shameful...but it is only 1.1 registered Dec 1993 it is my incredibly cheap shop runner and identicle to my first ever car...the local shop being 15 miles away so do not use any of my other 3 petrol beasts for these or any other local trips.
It does have a chain...on finally giving up my pride phoned dad...he suggested that since it sounds like a wheel bearing noise is coming from the engine and it's not my diff...all wheels and gearbox checked and fine...that it is probably the automatic chain tensioner...since the chains rarely go (rarely been a word I am getting used to when it comes to problems with my motors)... but anyway will have to strip it and check it all I suppose.
Dad assured me that I do not have to take off the sump, the only info on web says you have to ...and I could not find anything in Haynes to say otherwise...which is the main purpose of turning to you guys to get some guidance in getting to the chain.
If anyone as any other words of wisdom and experience they can pass on for this job I would be soooo greatful...and again thanks Tabetha for replying to my thread!!!
