Default New rs turbo cabby..

hey all...i jus managed to get a really good deal on a rs turbo(my first one)...
i was cruising it home on the motorway, it ran fine, didnt touch boost, then thought id give it a blip and it spooled up nicely then a sharp engine cut out...i thought the worst so drove it slow again...anyway...put some unleaded petrol in and off i went ...tried overtaking a car and it lost all power completly..had to sit in a layby fr 2hours while RAC where on the job.he tried everything and determined a fuel problem..then had a feel around the inlet manifold and discovered a air leak...would this, if not air tight completly mess up the air/fuel mix and cause it to not start? any advice would be excellent cheers..
