Default getting back into it

hi guys just after some advice i had a knee operation about 8 weeks ago before when i had my accident (long story) 5 years ago it made me not so mobile so thats the reason why i decided to have the op,now ive been going to the gym for the past 2 years on & off but for about a month now ive been realy getting stuck in going 4-5 days a week now when i wasnt so mobile a went up to a cracking 21 st now im down to 18 1/2 st @ 6ft really i want to keep going loosing weight but also want to build my muscle up after a month my arms,back & shoulders are begining to take shape im supprising myself realy so im just asking advice on what foods i should be eating im taking protein shakes eating chicken eggs ect no bread chips or potatoes am i going in the right direction?& what type of weights should i be doing to progress with the muscle? many thanks
