Yeah in the ford manual it suggests removing the 4 bolts that hold the stub axel on. Also when you have it off and in a vice you can hammer the stub axel out or press it out easily.
One problem i had with a friends car tho was once i got it all apart the drum was quite worn and the shoes also so i slacked them off just so i could get the drum on again but it wouldnt self adjust enough to work.
I know you can angle grind the lip off the drum to fix this but i just replaced the drums and does for the guy and eveyrthing was fine.
