As above, except to mention the cam timing is done to the LUG nearest the V groove, NOT the V groove itself, as some mistakenly do.
The ignition timing has a fixed refference point, the sensor that reads the lugs on the bottom pulley, this with the phase sensor(in the dizzy) tell it what it's doing, and the rest is sorted from there.
