Hi folks, new to the game, but need some advice, hoping you can help! Have just finished building a Cosworth YB powered Westfield. Standard engine, reground crank, new bearings, new oil pump, new hex drive to dizzy. The problem is the oil pressure. At start up its 75psi, drops to 17psi at 80deg c at idle. On the move it will pick up but after about 20miles it drops to around 8psi. There are no untoward noises top or bottom (yet) although cooling is an issue still to be ironed out. Initial thoughts were that it might be the running in oil. Have now switched to Mobil One 15w50 but it aint any better. The engine is effectively new/rebuilt and its only done 70miles. There was no debris in the oil that came out. Now starting to get confused as all I want to do is get on and drive it (rapidly) Thanks.
