Default Escort RS1600i Turbo

As title, just starting to get the feelers out. Am in no real hurry, and would like to have it for a couple of shows, but just thought it might be worth getting the word out. I shant go into a massive amount of detail here, please see me resto thread for a BRIEF idea of the car. Its a 1984 RS1600i. When i bought the car it had a Turbo Technics conversion. I removed the engine as it was not in the best of health, and am now running full S1 spec loom and engine. The car looks stunning as can be seen from pics.

Bodywork: NON-sunroof RS1600i shell, NEVER, (NOT restored either) welded underneath and is absolutely PERFECT and i mean perfect underneath. Battery tray has been replaced, along with wings at some point in past. The condition of the shell has to be seen to be believed! Painted in original black, with silver decals. All original spoilers and bumpers.

Engine: full S1 engine, internals largely unknown, but running 154bhp and 183 ft/Ib torgue. Engine pulls very nicely, engine does have some Samco and Roose hoses, would benefit from a full hose kit really. Brand new alloy rad, rebuilt S1 box, new clutch. My only fault with the engine is the tappets are a little noisy (good old CVH). Have also replaced as many sensors as possible, and everything works as it should, no silly switches for fans or rubbish like that. I have not used the Amal valve to control boost, but using a GReddy digital boost controller. (no, not a bleed valve!) cost 230 quid alone, but works very well and ideal for the future. Car loom was fully cleaned, replaced connectors, and re-taped to ensure things work properly.

Interior: full flocked dash, rebuilt dash clocks, 1983 Ford radio (fully working!), original seats and carpet. Centre of doorcards have been upholstered to match dash, but have not damaged the original material so can be changed back easily to standard. Car does not have central locking or electric windows. All door seals, and everything else is mint. Show cage fitted, NO trim has been altered or damaged to fit this, and can be removed in 5 minutes. Have also purchased brand new old stock switches and other little trim pieces to really bring it up to standard

Suspension: all new, removed and fully powdercoated black, brand new bushes and all nuts and bolts replaced. Currently has H+R lowering springs with original shocks. (i have original refurbed springs to give new owner). All anti-roll bar setup and other under body components have all been powercoated and refurbed.

Brakes: Escort Cosworth setup at front, again refurbed with brand new Green Stuff pads and brand new discs. Work very well! Standard rear drums, again powdercoated with all new internals. New brake lines throughout and master cylinder new seal.

Wheels: currently has 17'' Compomotive MO's, which are a one-off and only 1 week old. I also have the original alloys which also have been refurbed fully, and look like new, with as new Yokohama tyres fitted. Buyer to choose wheels.

This car will always be a project, and i will mention the things i would consider next to take this car that little bit further: finish painting underneath, i have cleaned it, and done 1/2, just needs another coat in time (or dont bother with it). Brake lines area little untidy, but work perfect (depends if you wanted to go for concours), interior clock needs wire running up A-pillar, tappets replaced. Consider refitting regulator to aid warm starting. But these are great little winter jobs!

OFFERS NOW CONSIDERED

Will be sad to see it go, but mortgage requires it!! But i wont sell it for peanuts as that would be plain stupid. I have soooo many pictures! Car has full 12 months MOT, and i have full v5 with many documents and books to go with it. If you think its dear, i invite you over to look underneath and realise just how good this car is, then make your mind up.
