The bolts you are talking about are the modified ones. The originals had a habit of just "rounding" the internal torx off and they then need to either be chiselled off or attacked with an angle-grinder.

The later ones are a "reverse torx" and are much better. I have had to do a couple now for people and they always come apart in the end. Even struggling with one that had done 170k on the original bearings it only took less than 30 minutes for both sides.
