I went to replace my fuel pump relay yesterday, but guess what - the one Ford sold me (for £25!
) isn't the same.
I also found that some pirate has botched in some cable into the yellow and blue wire that comes off the fuel pump relay. So, two questions (as the Haynes comic wiring diagrams don't cover the Cosworth's engine loom):
1) Where does the blue/yellow wire go?
2) Is this Titanic relay any good for the fuel pump?
2b) Is the yellow relay the right one, given that the relay holder's black?
3) Why do I feel like smashing a previous owners' face in? WHY DON'T PEOPLE LEAVE THE ELECTRICS ALONE FFS!
It'll get rewired at some point anyway, but I'd like to know.
Empty relay holder, blue/yellow wire trailing with black tape around the bodge:
The existing fuel pump relay (yellow) and the 'new' fuel pump relay (purple).
Same relays, from the back:
The rats nest. Notice the black joined and unprotected cable (it was wrapped in tape). This is spliced into the blue/yellow wire, which is odd as it could've easily been rejoined.
