I worked in a Ford dealer for 5 years! If anyone was stealing anything they woulda been found out very quickly.
It just doesn't seem right that someone from the garage would phone a mate or something. I would imagine it's someone who knows him or knows the car, has known it's been going in the garage and knows his name/some details.
