The current ones don't suffer from screen burn and the number of hours they last is more than enough.

Plasma's are much brighter than LCD's and have a far far better viewing angle. LCD's look somewhat grey/blue if you don't sit straight on at them. Also dead pixels. Dead pixels are not a failure of the warranty so you get a large red dot in the centre of your screen its bad luck.

LCD is good for text etc as standard they have high resolution. Though you can get plasmas with 1366 x 768 resolution now too (so HDTV support)

I'm really happy with my plasma, I got it really cheap direct from Korea through my old work (Samung Panel)

Oh and BTW It is a myth that you can get them "re-gasses"
