If you want something reasonably smooth for a road car maybe it is worth enquiring about a Bara/similar uprated VC as it seems to be 2/3 the price of the plated diffs ( if buying new ).
Worth doing some research into it before you spend a grand imo.
If you want to do drifting/serious competition use etc all the time a plated diff is probably best but if it's a civilized road car with a smooth progressive action consider why Ford specced a VC in the first place and not a clutch/ATB type
