what i don't get.. is why office staff get paid more than manual labour.. i don't mean that offensively, but manual labour is a shit load harder than sitting at a desk, using a keyboard, taking phone calls etc

This is coming from me - who is a qualified administrator, forklift truck driver (both cbl & reach) and an nvq trained 'horticulturalist'. I get bored enough sitting at my desk over the weekend let alone all week

maybe i missed something ? do people really only do these jobs just for their wage packet ?
