Just to add my 5p...

My rev counter did the same, and would only work when it felt like it.

I stuck a spare set of clocks in, which worked perfectly. Tabetha tested my original clocks, and the rev counter worked fine.

Go fish.

When you take them out, all I'll says is don't lose any screws.
