m8, id check the wiring to the knock sensor. I seem to rememebr your thread about your wipers not working and it was the rag where the knock sensor was that was wrapped round the motor? Id check all the knock wiring.

a good percentage of the RST's we used to tune had an issue with the 'knock' board in the ecu, causing the same problem. If you have tried a good ecu it rules that out, we always tried to use an S1 or early S2 ecu, blue/red/blue or blue/red/white.
I've tried a S1 ECU, Hearts & Diamonds, and the current one thats fitted Blue Red Black, out of all of them the H&D was noticabley less responsive and the S1 felt just like my current one. I can only go by how it feels as I have no way of meassuring the timimg whilst doing 6000rpm in 3rd! lol
By that I would say the H&D knock board is probably fucked and the Blue Red Black (currently fitted) is ok, as that feels just like the S1 which doesnt have one.
