i had a similar issue with mine mate,mines kept retarding the ignition,but only sometimes,i put it down to wiring fault(20yr old cut to fuk loom) as at 110mph my lights would dim on dash,battery light would glow and window wipers would come on and car felt flat,when on the rolling road it would never do it
They are oversensitive and often confuse the sound of the cam/lifters for knocking, so it's tucked away behind the heater motor surround wrapped in rag.
It could be a wiring problem, best I can do is continuity check the knock sensor to ECU wiring, and the ACT sensor to ECU wiring.
My loom is 100% untouched but it could just be age I supose, might be a break somewhere.
Your problem sounds hilarious! lol But i can see why it would be hard to sort out!
