take the bottom cover off of the ecu, those components with the white paste on might have been repaired....you will be able to tell from the solder underneath if they have been reworked at some point.
I say this as the paste looks to have been applied after the ecu was assembled...small bits on teh clip between the blobs. Plus i've never seen this on any cossie ecu i've opened up before.
