If they had photographic evidence, which I am sure they did, then they could ask around the area to see if anyone saw you removing said clamp......in which case they can push for criminal damage !

But on the other hand why hide car, surely you came home from work and there was no clamp on it, what are the chances of anyone seeing you and admitting that to dvla..........could they really prove you removed clamp if it is never found.......

Surprised it was clamped and not removed with a streetlifter truck

Just pay the tax and get it dealt with, how would you feel if it was hit by an uninsured driver and left ???
