Hi everyone,

I've had my ST170 for a while now and last winter the alternator started whining quite loudly when I turned the heated screens, radio, blowers etc on.

Just recently it has started whining when just the radio is on and nothing else so it has started to worry me (I don't want it to go completely).

I noticed that the alternator is right at the back of the engine bay and hidden amongst other things so it's quite hard to get to!

Has anybody replaced the alternator and can you tell me the best way of doing it? I'm quite confident in doing the job but can't seem to find a way of actually getting to it! I'm sure theres probably an easy way that I haven't spotted so any tips would be very much appreciated.
