Default Engine cooling issues....

I did have issues with my fans not coming on meaning id have to use my heater to keep car cool in heavy traffic now this was typical cossie fan issue blowing fuse and relay and is now being sorted with a new loom wiring each fan to seperate relay and decent new wiring.

Now that issue is dealt with sort of yet the engine is still running warmer than i would expect.

Ive found on motorway runs at 70mph the guage is showing slightly elevated temperature. Obviously at motorway speeds the fan issues are not a problem as the air flow at speed does the cooling instead, so im a little bit concerned as to whats happening.

This is the guage at steady 70:

Now that probably doesnt mean much to you but normally my car runs on motorway with the needle dead vertical with the needle just on the gap between "R" and "M" on "normal". Obviously the temp has gone up slightly compared to before.

The cars running escos running gear including escos radiator with a large 500 cooler in front. both the rad hoses are hot at the end of the run so i know the thermostat does operate.

Am i being excessively paranoid because theres been a "change" in temperature?? ie wanting to know WHY its changed??

I think i can rule out fans as at motorway speeds, fans shouldnt need to come on anyway. Its not a leaky header cap and its not loosing any water that i can tell. Ive checked for oil in coolant/mayo in oil cap so i dont think theres a gasket issue either.

Im thinking of ripping out the thermostat and seeing what temp it opens at, or is that being paranoid too???

Any ideas???
