bandpass or transmission line would be good .. but in a car i dont think there is enough space for the latter lol....
and yeah some shop bought ones are truly shocking, homebase cut wood to size so there is a place to start if your stuck.
nice rigid 3/4 ply or mdf braced inside makes a huge difference heavy as though nothing worse than a sub that vibrates its box ...
