Ive had non stop problems trying to share Media with my PS3. I download alot of TV shows and can't be arsed keep taking the wires out one TV and taking them up/downstairs everytime I wanna watch them.
My problem:
My PC could send files to my PS3, but for some reason (Can't remember now) I changed a setting on my PC. I have no idea what setting it was, but since changing this I cannot see my PS3 on my PC.
After many months of setting changes as indicated on Google searches I got no where. I installed PS3 Media Server yesterday and a message came up saying "Java is blocked by Windows Firewall, do you want to unblock" which I did click "Unblock".
Now PS3 Media Server sees my PS3, TVersity sees a "Device" and Nero MediaHome sees my PS3. The PS3 does not detect any of these servers tho? Windows Media Player 11 still does not see "Unknown Device" or a PS3.
I went to my Mum's today and connected my laptop to my son's XB360 and it worked fine, detected no problem. I tried my old PC and my old laptop and they detected the XB360 fine also. I checked all Windows Firewall settings and Network settings, nothing different to mine.
Im sure its something to do with "Incoming TCP" settings in firewall, but I am stuck on how to free the correct ports as everything the internet searches suggest seems to be free.
I may of clicked "Deny" in WMP 11 which is why I cannot find it now, but I can't remember what I changed about a year ago

or I may of deleted a setting such as "File Sharing" or something in Windows Firewall, but nothing different on 2 other PC's Ive checked.
I have 2 PS3's and the same thing happens with both consoles, yet neither can find a "Media Server".
I am running Windows XP Home SP3 with Windows Media Player 11 installed.
Any help would be appreciated as Im really close to buying a new PC with Vista as it works easier than XP on file sharing

Don't wanna spend £500 odd to just get this working tho
