Default block or short engine???

hey guys, i've recently bought a saph 4x4 with a fist sized hole in the block...

now being a total cossie virgin, (i've been restoring and modifying sierra's for years), i need your expertise and advice, i will be doing the rebuild myself and trying to cut a few (of the more expensive) corners....

do i need to go source a cossie 200 block (i've been told that ford transits are a good place to look, but what year/engine do i look for??) or can i build the engine back up using a 205 'pinto' block?? (of which i have plenty) will they be able to take the power/cossie crank??

i'd like to source parts from other vehicles that have related parts and find cheaper routes to get the engine rebuilt, bought 2nd hand, (perhaps you got something i'll need) ebay, piston heads and on line scrappy's etc. rather than just drop it off at an engine rebuilders/tuning shop along with the BIG bag of cash they require, i'm a hands on kinda dude and a heavy goods fitter by trade...

any help (free alpine mountain holiday if your a mechanic with cosworth knowledge) or advice, insider tips would be gratefully accepted and appreciated...
