Right here's an idea for all. I am insured on a multi car policy with Footman James.
The deal is I have to have a minimum of 3 cars of which the majority must be classics. So my garage consists of a y reg 998cc Nissan Micra. A standard 2wd Saph Cossie and a heavily modified rally spec 86 Mini (proper one not BMW).
I am 37 and pay £428 fully comp for all 3 cars for my wife and me to drive unlimited mileage. The beauty of this is as its classed as classic insurance no NCD is required.
The policy is based on the Micra and the fact that a group 20 car is on the policy does not come in to it. I was that shocked with the price quoted I asked for confirmation in writing at the time.
Might be something you youngsters could look at. You could acquire 2 rubbish cars put them on sorn and declare them off the road for renovation.
This may help some of you older guys as well. I reduced my yearly insurance from over £1400 saving nearly a grand a year.
