remote fobs are too risky IMO. Most people will stick them on thier keys. loose keys and they have total access to your house with no blaring alarm. At least with a code and a dialer you will know they breaking in.

Sadly the "average" burglary lasts less than 5 minutes so all the alarms in the world wont stop a determined one as police wont be there in 5, and chances are you wont be either. Will scare off the druggies and kids etc though.

Deterrant factor can be useful but its a balance between deterence and attracting attention.

Its not just about alarms though, good door and window looks, secure designed windows (eg internal beading on DG is more secure than external beading of older designs), locking up valuables (eg id, car keys cash etc), secure back gates, hard to climb fencing, outdoor lights etc etc etc
