Had one on my old turbo, but was manual, pain in the ass as you do forget and then think s**t!!! as you see the needle in the red.

Or, you get a call from the garage to say they left it idling and blew the red like I did, luckily the previous owner had botched the rad so it gave out before the head gasket - phew.

My fault as I had neglected to tell the garage about the switch lol!!

Personally I would look to improve the cooling system to keep the temps down as it will make for less panic in traffic!
