I know how our dyno works yes, in the background I'm trying to write up how engine dynamometers work and also a bit about car dynamometers.

The one we built was driving a shaft with a wheel of fixed mass at the end. Think we geared it down 50:1 as well but RC engine clutches aren't great so we did have quite a bit of clutch slip getting it going.
