You need to use a trigger pattern the same as that on the engine from which the ecu came, it also has to be in the correct place as well, ie the missing tooth must be exactly where it needs to be not just somewhere near, though if having mapped this can be overcome.
The actual sensor does not matter(where it comes from) so long as correct type and fits ok, they can be wildly out distance wise but aim for around 30 thou, or 0.75mm, will be fine.
