No i dont use two buckets and grit guard, do you really thing it is that important?

If you don't use two buckets and a grit guard, that will be what is causing the swirls!
Now I'm not a fan of 99% of Meguiars stuff, but Scratch X does work ok by hand. You can use polishes intended more so for machine use, but they'd be unbelieveably hard work by hand.
If you're that worried about swirls, invest in a good rotary. The Makita is the best out there, and at £155 it's not cheap, but as an investment in car care gear, it's not exactly going to break the bank either!
Also, what mitt do you have?
