Default Toyota Sprint Series, Round One Rockingham (pics and vids)

I presumed this would get moved if I put it in GD so sorry if its not supposed to be in here

I spent yesterday over at Rockingham supporting a mate who has entered this years Toyota Sprint Series in his 4AGE powered Starlet, for those that don't know anything about this series these are the basic rules :
Cars are timed on one lap ONLY, there are 2 warm up (sighthing) laps in the morning but after that you get upto 8 seperate attempts at the course.

ALL cars are obviously Toyotas and have to be fully road legal, the cars do not need MSA approval but the cars are scrutineered at the events and must comply with the TSS rulebook.

Cars are seperated into classes which is explained here : http://www.toyota-sprint-series.com/...f0d28d9ba48434

So onto the day, firstly it was COLD ! well from my point of view it was, spectating at Rockingham isn't the best so you can't do much walking to keep warm whilst at the same time actually seeing anything of whats going on so I'll apoligise now for the lack of pictures ( I hope to copy some of the proper pictures over once they appear elsewhere)

The big boys had showed up in their 4wd turbo cars, namely the Fensport Corolla which is now detuned from its old spec but is certainly not shy on track even on their first sessions, several other Gt4's and MR2 turbos were also showing they had good pace, the lesser groups (B onwards) had a mixture of cars but not anything mentally fast, just realistically evenly matched which kept them fighting for top spot all day, 3 runs in and my mate Dave was really attacking the course in his Starlet, so much so he has already set a time that nobody in his group was likely to match

After lunch everyone was back out, certain cars I believe had upped the boost a little as it was quite clear some were going a touch faster than they had previously been lol, Dave went back out and set a new PB which by the end of the day was litterally a few tenths slower than the fastest car in the group above him ! (a 250hp Starlet vs his 137hp Starlet)

Just after 4pm the last runs were done and the updated times were posted on display which can be found here :

Besides it being a bit cold I had a bloody good day, it really made me want to get out there and be part of it but as I don't own a Toyota I'll have to eventually find my own series to have a go at, (when I have a suitable car lol) its laid back, not too serious and full of equally minded people which is what makes it a good day out !

The next event is to be held at Barkston Heath in about a month and I will hopefully be attending as Daves mechanic again, I can't complain really, ultra reliable car and free entry ! I got it easy thats for sure
