Toivonens death was a result of a HUGE crash that was attributed (most likely) to the amount of medication he was taking to combat a bad cold/flu at (IIRC) Corsica. He left the road at full chat (no skid marks were evident) and apparently unconscious. Both he and codriver Sergio Cresto were killed in the accident. There was not much left of the Delta S4.
