My head on my s2 has oversized cam bearings, ive been told by Andy at cylinder head developments that it was quite a common thing for ford to do that. It stoped them scrapping off loads of heads. Thats why peoples cams wear so quick because people fit a standard size cam which is to small

thats right, they did stamp/mark the heads to show if it had oversize followers, cam bearings or both but most people never check/know. Like you say, it was ford making the best of what they had.
