Default Lux gets a clean up

Hi guys i thought it was about time i started my restoration thread as its been done now for about a year!!!!. The car was reg number L199 WGF if anyone knows it?

I will start of with the engine bay. There was just the usual wear and tear and looking grubby. and i found no rot in this part of the car as it has been stored in a garage all its life.

All rubbed down and primed looking better already

I couldn't believe the transformation when the paint went on well chuffed:biggrin:

I took the 543BHP engine out of my old mk4 escort cosworth that got squashed

and started cleaning painting and fitting

Then on to taking the rear apart

i cleaned the floor up and decided to coat the underneath with tetra schutz
It was all zinc primed before the schutz treatment

I took the side skirts of and broke all the clips!!!! but managed to get new ones from fords and was surprised to find no rust on the seals so then it was time to start putting the underneath back together

All the bearings where replaced as well as rubber boots & bushes

I replaced all the brake pipes at the rear as they didnt look to good and i not sure if i should paint them green or something. The pipes are not straight in the pic as i have still got to replace the clips.
Next i started on some of the paint that wasn't great

I just found a couple of pics of the back of the front pannel and thought id show you how far i went with the engine bay

When i went to put the front diff on i found the cross shaft and bearing where shot so i got a good second hand cross shaft and new bearing from fords.

when that was all fitted the front suspension went on after a bit of a spruce:icon_smile:

Right here are some more pics of the car going back together .I went for the standard look first.

when i drove the car with the standard airbox on i found it made the turbo spool up to slow for me.
Also on my way back home from ford fair last year the turbo s**t itself so i had to buy my new turbonetics roller bearing turbo:icon_smile:

and this is how the engine bay is currently.

This pic is what was left of my marham shaft on the original garret T61.

Next are a few pics of the rear end when i put it back together. I repainted the tailgate, spoilers and rear bumper as well due to the usual bubbling in the spoilers, car park scratches on the bumper and key marks round the lock.

Underneath i haven't gone for concourse look but i am thinking about it. The problem is if i do will i ever use it because of the fear of getting it dirty:dunno:. What do you all think?

Here are a couple of pics of the Hispec 6 pots fitted under the standard wheels. Not the easiest thing to do but i love the standard wheels (could do with being bigger though).

will update soon.
