In addition to the fact that "the buck stops here" as far as any desktop related issue is concerned, we're responsible for application packaging, deployment, removal, (approx 1500 applications over 2000 production nodes in london plus 2 BCP sites with another 400 nodes or so), license compliance, the look and feel of the desktop environment (fairly restricted in our case here), patching, reporting, hardware and software upgrades, desktop security including forensics, anti virus, IPS, and management/maintenance of all the various applications that we use to look after our desktop infrastructure. No doubt there's plenty more to add but that covers my day so far today!

Thats pretty much what I do - i work for well known advertising agency in the west end & my basic is just under £30k. If I was in the city doing this how much do you reckon I could earn? Sorry if you've mentioned it already Im just skimming in between work!
