Tailgate struts
For years I’ve had the tailgate on my S1 falling on my head as the gas struts were knackered. Put up with it for the amount of time I actually use the car, but when the boot lid fell on my head last week – that was the final straw ! Only went to the car to check she was OK during winter storage, so decided enough was enough. I did enquire about buying some a while ago and Ford wanted something daft like £70 + VAT per side, so that idea got told to foxtrot oscar, but I’ve found a place that sells replacement stuts at sensible money, hence this post as I can’t be the only one and others may well b ein the same boat.
Firm are called GS Engineering and are based in Derby

They’re nothing to do with me and this isn’t a for sale post before anyone starts thinking along those lines – I’ve had really good service from them, the cost was good (£38.51 all in, delivered) and thought this may help others ! They do applications for just about anything by all accounts, so worth a call if you need anything along these lines.
