Default Where do I put a bleed valve?

I bought a bleed valve for my workhorse, a 1998 Toyota Avensis Estate 2.0 Turbo Diesel.

Where do I put this bleed valve? There is the Turbo then a smallish black hose that runs from that to the actuator. Do I put it in between the Turbo and actuator on that hose? Also how many turns shall I turn it to, not got a boost gauge so its going to be trial and error, well I hope not error as dont want to melt my engine!!

Also!! Would an induction kit help a Turbo Diesel car? I know it may sound strange wanting to do up my Toyota Avensis Estate but the performance is dull! I have an almost new Pipercross induction kit for a Mondeo 2.0 16v hanging around in my garage which I thought I could use, and the bleed valve, well £14 off Ebay!! So if I can get around 10bhp that would be for £14!!
