devastator is a gesalt (more commonly known in the tf world as a combiner) where all the constructicons got together to form devastator, scrapper, hook, bonecrusher (fucked up by prime in the first movie when he put a sword through his face), longhaul, mixmaster and scavenger

widely acknowleged as the "best" of the combiners (first unvieled in the heavy metal war episode), even though bruticus (starscreams brigade) was stronger, the combaticons were dumbo's and easily outsmarted, onslaught, blast off, brawl, swindle and vortex wern't the brightest of the bunch

they pummeled devastator's ass when they met up first time around, then twated menasaur (stunticon cominber) the team of motormaster, breakdown, deadend, dragstrip and wildrider

predaking came in real late so even though he was the toughest, he was also not really major to the storyline and being as though he was a bit of a loner it wasn't really anything other than a spin off
razerclaw, divebomb, headstrong, rampage and tantrum made them up

the 2 main autobot combiners were made up of the airelbots (superion, madeup of silverbolt, air raid, fireflight, slingshot and skydive) and defensor (the protectobots made up of hotspot, blades, first aid, grooe and streetwise)

scorponok was showcased in season 4, headmasters/the rebirth depending on which books you read, but was basicly a city that transformed, same with fortress maximus and metroplex on the autobots side

there were around 90 odd episodes of transformers, season 1 and 2 were pre the movie, and season 3 was post movie, but there was a 20 year gap between the end of season 2 and the movie which explains why there was a whole difference of charachters in the later episodes
